Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen will make his return and start Sunday versus the Washington Redskins after missing the team's last three game due to a fractured right foot, a source told NFL Network's Tiffany Blackmon.

Olsen is listed as questionable, but the Panthers are optimistic about his status for Week 6.

The Pro Bowler missed nine games due to a similar injury last season, but was only sidelined for five weeks after being hurt in the season opener this year.

"It adds a player that Cam (Newton) is very comfortable with,'' offensive coordinator Norv Turner said during the week, according to ESPN's David Newton. "He will draw more attention, so it should help other guys get coverages that are friendly to them.''

Olsen was one of the most durable players in the NFL until last year, appearing in every regular-season game since 2008 - his second season in the league.

He had 80 catches for 1,073 yards and three touchdowns in 2016, and should slot back in as Newton's primary target.
