Jones ducked media after Redskins game over fear of leaking Cooper trade
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones skipped his traditional postgame media session Sunday in fear he would accidentally reveal the blockbuster Amari Cooper trade he had looming.
"I can't keep a secret," Jones quipped Friday on 105.3 The Fan. "I thought it was best to move on."
The Cowboys reeled in Cooper on Monday, sending a first-round pick to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for the two-time Pro Bowl wideout. When he avoided reporters Sunday, many believed Jones was simply frustrated over the Cowboys' heart-wrenching loss to the rival Washington Redskins.
"He'll definitely change the dynamics of the offense," an excited Jones said of Cooper.
Jones added that while he publicly expressed confidence in Dallas' underwhelming receiving corps throughout the offseason, the Cowboys were always on the lookout for a boost at the position.
Dallas is on a Week 8 bye, meaning Cooper won't make his Cowboys debut until Nov. 5 when his new squad hosts the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football.
