Report: Bosa isn't 'anywhere near ready to play'

Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher Joey Bosa may be further behind than initially anticipated in his recovery from a foot sprain.

Bosa hasn't played this season due to the injury and it was previously believed he'd return for Week 9. But a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Bosa isn't "anywhere near ready to play right now" with the Chargers on their bye week.

The 23-year-old met with a specialist in September, who confirmed Bosa would be week to week while dealing with the injury.

Bosa, the Chargers' third overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft, was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2017 after recording 12.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.
