Week 9 NFL betting report: Green Bay attracting money again

The Week 9 NFL slate rolls on Sunday with three games in the late-afternoon window, followed by a prime-time matchup between the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots. Will Bernanke, the lead analyst at CG Analytics in Las Vegas, offers some betting nuggets for the four games.

Houston Texans at Denver Broncos

Two teams heading in opposite directions meet when the Houston Texans travel to take on the Denver Broncos. Houston has reeled off five straight wins, while the Broncos come limping in after losing five of their last six games. The Broncos are holding steady as 1/1.5-point favorites in most shops, and the total has ticked up from 46 to 46.5.

"Surprisingly low handle on this game, but there's currently 62 percent of Houston money," said Bernanke. "The total is pretty even. We're gonna need Denver here slightly, as bettors are taking the red-hot team."

Los Angeles Chargers at Seattle Seahawks

The Los Angeles Chargers come into Week 9 on a roll following four straight wins after starting the season 1-2. Los Angeles recently took down the Tennessee Titans in London, narrowly winning 20-19 and failing to cover as 6.5-point favorites.

The Chargers are slight 'dogs on Sunday when they travel to CenturyLink Field to face the Seahawks, a team that's 4-1 over its last five games.

"55 percent of the spread money is on the Chargers - nothing crazy," said Bernanke. "Accounting for the moneyline handle, about 59 percent of all cash is on L.A."

Los Angeles Rams at New Orleans Saints

The undefeated Los Angeles Rams look to keep their record intact while taking on a New Orleans Saints team that hasn't lost since Week 1. The line on this game has swung and crossed zero multiple times throughout the week, but Los Angeles is currently the short road favorite.

"We took some respected money - a low five-figure wager - on the Rams earlier in the week when they were 'dogs," said Bernanke.

The total hit as high as 59.5, but has since fallen to 56.5 in most spots.

"A lot of under money," added Bernanke. "Which is surprising with these two teams."

Green Bay Packers at New England Patriots

The public was all over the Packers when they were getting more than a touchdown against the Rams last weekend during a 29-27 loss. Now bettors are mostly going back to the Green Bay well in Week 9 when the Packers face the New England Patriots, with the AFC East leaders sitting as five-point home favorites.

"88 percent of the moneyline cash is on Green Bay, as is 56 percent of the spread money," Bernanke said. "There's some money on the under, but the Green Bay moneyline is what a lot of people are hitting."
