Fantasy: Waiver Wire - Week 10

Fantasy Podcast: Week 9 takeaways, and early look at waiver wire

Quarterbacks

Baker Mayfield, Browns

Mayfield continues to be a streaming option thanks to an easy schedule, which has allowed him to throw for multiple touchdowns in each of his last three games. The Falcons field one of the worst pass defenses in the league, setting Mayfield up for another quality outing.

Alex Smith, Redskins

Smith failed to post a big fantasy day against the Falcons last week due to just one touchdown pass, but he did top 300 yards for the first time since joining Washington. In Week 10, his matchup is somehow even easier against a Bucs defense that's allowing the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, including two or more passing scores in seven of its eight games.

Other options: Dak Prescott at PHI (38 percent owned), Nick Mullens vs. NYG (3 percent owned), Eli Manning at 49ers (15 percent owned), Josh Rosen at KC (3 percent owned)

Running Backs

Mike Davis, Seahawks

With Chris Carson dealing with yet another injury, Davis becomes one of the top pickups this week. He rushed 15 times for 62 yards on Sunday and caught seven passes for 45 yards. We've already seen Davis step up when thrust into a bigger role earlier this year and last season. The Seahawks also had success on the ground in their first meeting with the Rams back in Week 5, amassing 184 rushing yards, including 68 and a touchdown from Davis. His work as a pass-catcher prevents him from being game-script dependent. Rashaad Penny (12 percent owned) is also worth stashing to see if the first-rounder can carve out a bigger role with Carson potentially sidelined.

Ito Smith, Falcons

Smith is averaging 11 touches per game over his last three outings and is coming off his best yardage total of the season - 64 yards from scrimmage and a score. He's a startable flex option and deserves to be owned in more than 44 percent of leagues.

Duke Johnson, Browns

The Browns' new coaching staff brought Johnson back to life Sunday, setting him loose as a pass-catcher en route to nine receptions, 78 yards, and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball once for eight yards. His production didn't slow down Nick Chubb, who had 90 total yards and a touchdown of his own. Johnson gets the Falcons in Week 10, a defense notorious for giving up receiving yards to running backs, so expect another strong fantasy day.

Elijah McGuire, Jets

In his first game back from injury, McGuire stepped right into Bilal Powell's vacated role with seven rushes for 30 yards and three receptions for 37 yards. He out-snapped starter Isaiah Crowell 36-23 in a close loss to the Dolphins, signaling the team's intentions to make him a prominent figure moving forward, as it begins to assess its roster for 2019. McGuire could even find his way into your lineup next week with the Jets projected as 7.5-point home favorites against the Bills.

Theo Riddick, Lions

Players in PPR leagues should be all over Riddick, who returned from a two-game absence and tied for the team lead in targets with eight. Unfortunately, that only resulted in 36 yards, but he hauled in seven passes in the contest. With Golden Tate no longer in Detroit, Riddick could see an expanded role in the passing game.

Josh Adams, Eagles

Wendell Smallwood (39 percent owned) and Corey Clement (32 percent owned) haven't delivered since Jay Ajayi was placed on injured reserve. Wisely, Philly chose to give Adams more work in Week 8, resulting in nine rushes for 61 yards. Coming off the bye, Adams deserves an opportunity to show he can provide the power element the Eagles' rushing attack has been missing since losing Ajayi. However, Darren Sproles' (6 percent owned) return to the lineup could complicate matters. All four backs are worth owning as stashes until we get a better feel for how they'll be deployed.

Other options: Nyheim Hines vs. JAX (26 percent owned), Gio Bernard vs. NO (23 percent owned), Kapri Bibbs at TB (3 percent owned), Spencer Ware vs. ARI (5 percent owned), Malcolm Brown vs. SEA (3 percent owned)

Wide Receivers

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Packers

With Geronimo Allison (28 percent owned) inactive due to a groin injury, Valdes-Scantling was the Packers' second-best receiving threat Sunday night. The rookie turned three catches into 101 yards and now has 100 yards or a touchdown in each of his last four outings. With reports that Allison may require surgery, MVS could be a WR3 for the remainder of 2018.

Tyrell Williams/Mike Williams, Chargers

Both guys are getting it done on a low volume of targets. Tyrell wasn't able to crack 100 yards for a third straight game, but he did post his fourth touchdown over that span. Mike also found the end zone again, following up his 55-yard score last time out with a 30-yard touchdown on Sunday. Even though it's dangerous to rely on players with low target shares, both receivers are worth rostering as high-ceiling, low-floor options. Tyrell is on the WR3 radar, while Mike is more of fringe flex play.

Quincy Enunwa, Jets

Enunwa returned to the lineup with 40 yards on four targets. That low yardage total will cause many to overlook him on the waiver wire this week, but don't forget that prior to his injury, he was averaging over nine targets per game in the first month of the season. Stash him now, and wait to see if he can get back to that early-season target share.

Christian Kirk, Cardinals

Coming off his bye week, Kirk has 50 yards or a touchdown in five of his last six games. The rookie is a borderline fantasy starter with room to grow as the offense improves under new coordinator Byron Leftwich.

Chris Godwin, Buccaneers

Godwin hasn't put up big games in terms of yards, making him a more touchdown-dependent WR3/flex. He did catch three scores from Ryan Fitzpatrick early in the season, providing hope he'll get back to the top-30 numbers he was producing in September. Teammate Adam Humphries (2 percent owned) led the team with 82 yards and a pair of scores in Week 9, and has eclipsed 75 yards three times over the last month. He's still hard to trust in a passing game that features Mike Evans, Godwin, DeSean Jackson, and tight end O.J. Howard.

Other options: Donte Moncrief at IND (10 percent owned), Tre'Quan Smith at CIN (28 percent owned), Pierre Garcon vs. NYG (25 percent owned), Mohamed Sanu at CLE (45 percent owned), Anthony Miller vs. DET (11 percent owned), David Moore at LAR (16 percent owned), Keke Coutee on bye (27 percent owned), Cordarrelle Patterson at TEN (5 percent owned), Josh Doctson at TB (8 percent owned), Maurice Harris at TB (0 percent owned)

Tight Ends

Jack Doyle, Colts

If Doyle is still on waivers in your league, you can thank his Week 9 bye. Prior to that, he returned to the lineup with a six-catch, 70-yard, one-touchdown afternoon, re-establishing his connection with Andrew Luck. Doyle and Eric Ebron may cannibalize each other's fantasy value some weeks, but both belong in the low-end TE1 conversation.

Chris Herndon, Jets

Herndon posted season highs in catches (four) and yards (62) in Week 9. The rookie is becoming a consistent part of the Jets' offense, with at least 40 yards in three of his last four contests, as well as three touchdowns during that stretch. While he hasn't reached every-week-starter status yet in fantasy, he'll be one of the better streaming options for the rest of the season.
