Report: Chargers' Henry has chance to return by end of season

The Los Angeles Chargers could get a key reinforcement in time for their postseason push, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reports tight end Hunter Henry has a chance to return in December.

Henry has been sidelined since tearing his ACL in a non-contact drill during OTAs in May.

"Anything's possible - he's looked a lot better than I thought he would," said head coach Anthony Lynn. However, Schefter's sources say Henry playing again in 2018 is still a longshot.

The third-year pass-catcher has recorded 81 catches for 1,057 yards and 12 touchdowns over his first two NFL seasons.

Veteran Chargers tight ends Virgil Green and Antonio Gates have combined for 23 receptions and 255 yards with two scores this year while replacing Henry. Wide receiver Keenan Allen leads the team with 47 catches for 630 yards, and Tyrell Williams and Mike Williams have each scored five touchdowns.

The Chargers have a 6-2 record and occupy second place in the AFC West.
