The Green Bay Packers put a contingency plan in place to ensure rookie punter JK Scott wouldn't miss the birth of his first child.

Scott's wife, Sydney, started experiencing contractions ahead of Sunday night's game against the New England Patriots, so the Packers had a plane waiting at a nearby airport in case he had to fly back home, according to Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com. General manager Brian Gutekunst also used the team's open roster spot to sign punter Drew Kaser as a backup for the game.

Scott never got the call, though.

"The baby could come at any time," he said afterward. "We're inducing this week, if anything else, but I was talking to them. It was awesome. Brian Gutekunst, he pulled me aside and was talking to me, and really caring about me with this baby and my wife. It was cool they would do that for me. Everything was ready for me if the baby came."

The rookie ended up punting five times for a net average of 42 yards against New England.
