Prescott takes blame for MNF loss, Jones says QB will be extended

Quarterback Dak Prescott is taking the blame for the Cowboys' 28-14 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Dallas on Monday night.

"We’ve got to do better and it starts with me," Prescott said, according to David Helman of Cowboys.com. "It starts with me first all the way."

Prescott completed 21 of 31 passing attempts for 243 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while being sacked five times. He added two rushing attempts for 11 yards.

The third-year signal-caller hasn't thrown for 300 yards in a game this season and has thrown multiple touchdowns on just three occasions. Prescott ranks 29th among 34 qualified quarterbacks in passing yards per game, and 24th in passer rating.

The Cowboys are 3-5 through nine weeks and hold the third spot in the NFC East behind the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles. Still, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is standing by the 2016 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

"Tonight's game did not - did not, I emphasize - impact my future look at Dak Prescott. Not tonight," Jones said after the loss.

He doubled down on Tuesday.

"Listen, Dak is the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. He’s young and he’s going to get extended," Jones said, according to Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News.

Dallas will pay a visit to the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday night and attempt to pull even for the division's No. 2 seed.
