Fantasy: Waiver Wire - Week 11

Fantasy Podcast: Week 10 takeaways, and early look at waiver wire

Quarterbacks

Dak Prescott, Cowboys

Prescott has quietly been putting up QB1 numbers in fantasy over the last month, with his rushing production and Amari Cooper's arrival helping his cause in recent weeks. The Falcons have been one of the most generous pass defenses in the league this season, allowing six different quarterbacks to throw for at least three touchdowns against them. With six teams on bye, Prescott should be high on your list of streaming options as he has a solid schedule the rest of the way.

Marcus Mariota, Titans

With Mariota finally healthy, the Titans' offense is starting to develop a little swagger. The fourth-year QB has multiple touchdowns in back-to-back games and, like Prescott, is adding fantasy points with his legs. The Colts have been playing better defense this year, but they've still given up multiple passing scores to the last five real quarterbacks they faced - we're not counting their Week 7 opponent, the Bills. It's possible Mariota's injury is what slowed this team down earlier in the season.

Lamar Jackson, Ravens

The most recent reports have the Ravens as "hopeful" that Joe Flacco will be able to play through his hip injury. It's a situation that fantasy owners will have to monitor with the team coming off its bye. For the time being, Jackson should be owned in most leagues. We’ve seen the advantage mobile quarterbacks have in fantasy and combined with the Ravens' schedule, Jackson has late-season breakout appeal. Over the next five weeks, Baltimore will square off with the Bengals, Raiders, Falcons, Chiefs, and Bucs - some of the worst defenses the NFL has to offer. It's a long shot, but his upside makes him worth rostering till we know more.

Other options: Eli Manning vs. TB (17 percent owned), Josh Rosen vs. OAK (4 percent owned), Blake Bortles vs. PIT (22 percent owned)

Running Backs

Rashaad Penny/Mike Davis, Seahawks

Davis was the recommended pickup in this space last week. While he delivered with 15 touches for 80 yards and a touchdown, it was Penny who stole the spotlight with 12 carries, 108 yards, and a score. The veteran out-snapped and out-touched his rookie teammate, so we're likely still looking at a timeshare if Chris Carson is ruled out for Thursday night's contest with the Packers. Head coach Pete Carroll said Carson is expected to suit up, but Carroll has a history of misleading predictions about player availability. The team's first-round investment in Penny still looms over this backfield and could incentivize the 4-5 Seahawks to give their young back more work as they fall out of playoff contention and shift their focus to next season. In a week where there aren't many strong running back options, Penny's ceiling and Davis' steady production have them at the top of this list.

Doug Martin, Raiders

Martin has done a fine job taking over as the lead back, averaging 83 yards from scrimmage per game over the last three weeks. Unfortunately, he hasn't found the end zone while playing in a struggling Raiders offense that offers few scoring opportunities. Martin doesn't make for a great long-term solution, but in Week 11, he'll take on the Cardinals, who permit the most fantasy points to running backs. It's a game Oakland should be able to stay competitive in, making Martin a borderline RB2, if only for one week.

Royce Freeman, Broncos

Freeman was providing fantasy owners with flex numbers before being sidelined since Week 7 with a high ankle sprain. The Broncos are expecting him to return to the lineup this week, where he will rejoin a committee backfield that features a lot of Phillip Lindsay and a bit of Devontae Booker. The real reason to scoop up Freeman is Denver's schedule over the final month of the fantasy season. From Week 13 on, the Broncos play the Bengals, 49ers, Browns, and Raiders. If Lindsay were to miss time down the stretch, Freeman has league-winning upside.

Derrick Henry, Titans

As the Titans' offense improves, so does Henry's fantasy outlook. Positive game scripts and goal-line carries are his best shot to return value, and we've seen him reach the end zone four times over his last three games. Henry will remain a touchdown-dependent flex option, but he would catapult up the fantasy ranks if Dion Lewis suffered an injury.

Josh Adams, Eagles

Adams led the Eagles' backfield in rushing for the second straight game, prompting head coach Doug Pederson to state that the rookie will get more work moving forward. The committee approach isn't going away, but Adams is now the back to own in Philadelphia. The bad news is that he'll collide with the Saints' stout run defense in Week 11, so temper expectations.

Other options: Elijah McGuire on Bye (18 percent owned), Frank Gore on Bye (27 percent owned), Theo Riddick vs. CAR (12 percent owned), Giovani Bernard at BAL (25 percent owned), Nyheim Hines vs. TEN (26 percent owned), Ty Montgomery vs. CIN (14 percent owned), Spencer Ware vs. LAR (8 percent owned), Malcolm Brown vs. KC (5 percent owned), Ronald Jones at NYG (8 percent owned)

Wide Receivers

Courtland Sutton, Broncos

Even with the Demaryius Thomas trade, Sutton remains available in 45 percent of leagues. Perhaps some owners were forced to drop him over the Broncos' bye week, but Sutton has 50 yards or a touchdown in six straight outings. If he's available, he's the number one waiver wire pickup this week.

Donte Moncrief, Jaguars

It's scary to roster a Blake Bortles receiver, but hear me out. In Moncrief's last six games, he's gone over 75 yards four times. That includes a 3-98-1 stat line against the Colts in Week 10. He's emerged as Jacksonville's top receiver, leading the group in most categories. The Jags' receiving corps faces one of the easiest schedules for the remainder of the season, making Moncrief a borderline WR3.

Anthony Miller, Bears

Even with Allen Robinson back in the lineup and dominating with 133 yards and two touchdowns, Miller produced his best day as a pro with five catches, 122 yards, and a score. Miller also set a season high by playing on 74 percent of the Bears' offensive snaps. The second-rounder was one of my favorite prospects in this year's draft class and we're seeing him come into his own in one of the league's best young offenses.

Josh Reynolds, Rams

Cooper Kupp will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, which thrusts Reynolds back into the lineup in three-receiver sets. When Kupp was out in Week 8, Reynolds turned five targets into 42 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Playing in the Rams' offense, he'll be a sneaky fantasy starter, especially in this week's high-scoring Monday night showdown with the Chiefs.

Chris Godwin, Buccaneers

Godwin is the WR35 in standard scoring leagues with 37 receptions, 484 yards, and four touchdowns on the season. He has 50 yards or a touchdown in six of his nine contests and just posted season highs in catches (7) and yards (103) against the Redskins. As long as the offense doesn't fall off while head coach Dirk Koetter circles the drain, Godwin will continue to be a fringe WR3.

Tight Ends

Vance McDonald, Steelers

McDonald has made this column several times as one of the best streamers on the market. In Week 11, he gets a Jaguars defense that just gave up four touchdowns to Colts tight ends on Sunday. If you're in need of help at the position, McDonald could be deployed as your full-time starter down the stretch.

Gerald Everett, Rams

Like Reynolds, Everett should see increased targets with Kupp sidelined. Since there aren't many surefire bye-week fill-ins at tight end, why not go with a skilled sophomore playing in a prolific offense that's about to engage in a game with the highest projected point total of all time at 63.5.
