Bills' Allen will start if healthy after bye week
Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said rookie quarterback Josh Allen will start after the team's bye week if he has recovered from an elbow sprain that has kept him out of the past four games.
“If healthy, Josh Allen will start after our bye week," McDermott said Monday during his media availability. "He’s been throwing and making progress but we’ll take it one day at a time."
Matt Barkley started in Buffalo's 41-10 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, going 15-of-25 for 232 yards and two touchdowns. He became the fourth player to start at quarterback for the Bills this season, joining Allen, Nathan Peterman, and Derek Anderson.
Anderson is still in concussion protocol after suffering the injury against the New England Patriots on Oct. 29.
"It’s important he [Allen] can get as many reps as he can get in live game action," McDermott said of Allen, according to Matthew Bove of WKBW.
