Aikman picks Cowboys to win NFC East 1 week after calling for overhaul
Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman predicted Tuesday that the Dallas Cowboys will win the NFC East, just one week after he said his former team required a "complete overhaul."
"Right now, if I had to pick someone, I'd pick Dallas," the FOX NFL analyst said on his weekly radio appearance with "The Musers" on KTCK-FM 96.7 The Ticket, according to Jori Epstein of USA TODAY.
Aikman's prediction comes after the Cowboys went into Philadelphia and walked out with a win against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles, improving their record to 4-5. Before that game, Aikman said the Cowboys were suffering from "a lot of dysfunction" within the organization.
On his radio appearance, Aikman added that he expects the NFC East to come down to the 4-5 Cowboys and the Washington Redskins, who sit atop the division with a 6-3 record.
"The Thanksgiving game (between them) is huge," he said. "If Dallas can keep it within two games going into Thanksgiving, win that game, I think they're positioned well."
Aikman also gave quarterback Dak Prescott, who's been a lightning rod for criticism at times this year, a vote of confidence.
"I'm a big Dak Prescott fan, was really happy for him to come out and respond the way he did," Aikman said of his performance against the Eagles. "If you do invest that money in him, you know what you're going to get. With Dak, I know he'll be even more committed to being great and helping (the) team win (a) championship."
