While New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold could return from his foot injury next week, he's more likely to miss one more week and re-enter the starting lineup in Week 14, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The rookie was ruled out for the Jets' divisional matchup with the New England Patriots on Sunday, his second straight game on the sidelines. Josh McCown is starting in his place.

Darnold missed New York's Week 10 loss to the Buffalo Bills - before the team's bye week - but has since ditched his walking boot and started jogging following the extra week of rest.

The No. 3 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft has completed 55 percent of his pass attempts this season for 1,934 yards and 11 touchdowns through nine games. He leads the league with 14 interceptions.
