Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon suffered a knee injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

He left for the locker room and was initially ruled questionable to return, but ultimately missed the rest of the game with the Chargers holding a commanding lead.

Gordon went down after rushing 10 times for 61 yards and two touchdowns, adding two receptions for five yards.

Backups Justin Jackson and Austin Ekeler filled in after Gordon's departure. Ekeler ran five times for 35 yards and a touchdown with 10 receptions for 68 yards. Jackson had seven carries for 57 yards.

The Chargers had listed Gordon as questionable prior to the game due to knee and hamstring issues but he convinced coaches to give him a chance to suit up, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
