Report: Browner sentenced to 8 years in prison for attempted murder
Former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner was sentenced to eight years in a state prison after pleading no contest to attempted murder, according to TMZ Sports.
The 34-year-old was charged with attempted murder for an incident in July during which he allegedly broke into the apartment of an ex-girlfriend, chased and dragged her, and smothered her in a carpet.
He also pleaded no contest to two counts of willful child endangerment, as the woman's children were present for the reported incident.
Browner fled the residence but was later arrested. Charges of robbery, burglary, and false imprisonment were dropped as a result of his plea.
He had been in custody since the arrest and was credited with 300 days for good behavior.
The two-time Super Bowl champion last played 16 games for the New Orleans Saints in 2015.
