Report: Chiefs' Fuller played through wrist injury Thursday, will have surgery
Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Kendall Fuller played through what's believed to be a fractured wrist during Thursday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Fuller is expected to undergo surgery Friday morning and is currently without a timetable for his return.
The injury is a massive blow to Kansas City's pass defense, which already ranks last in the NFL.
The Chiefs acquired Fuller from the Washington Redskins as part of the Alex Smith trade earlier this year. He's notched two interceptions and one forced fumble in his first campaign with the team.
Fuller - one of the league's top slot cornerbacks - was Washington's third-round pick in 2016 out of Virginia Tech, and had four interceptions in a breakout sophomore campaign in 2017.
Veteran Orlando Scandrick could see increased playing time in the slot in Fuller's absence, while Steven Nelson and rookie Tremon Smith will likely see increased responsibilities as well.
