NFL players often disagree with their Madden NFL ratings, but it's rare to hear that one complained theirs is too high.
In a feature by ESPN's Michael Rothstein about the life of EA Sports' Madden NFL ratings adjusters, one employee shared a strange interaction he had with Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick during a visit to Tampa Bay. Dustin Smith, the lead ratings adjuster, said he had just spoken to Lavonte David when Fitzpatrick walked up and told him that his rating was, in fact, exaggerated.
"And then just walked off," Smith recalled. "That was, by far, the weirdest one I've ever gotten. It's one of my favorite stories."
Fitzpatrick received an initial player rating of 73 in Madden NFL 19 and is now sitting at 79.
