Report: Chargers optimistic Allen, Ekeler will return Week 16
The Los Angeles Chargers believe there's a legitimate chance that wide receiver Keenan Allen and running back Austin Ekeler will return for Saturday night's Week 16 game versus the Baltimore Ravens, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Allen suffered a hip pointer in Thursday's Week 15 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, while Ekeler missed the game with a neck injury.
Running back Melvin Gordon is also expected to return against Baltimore, so Los Angeles could have all hands on deck for a crucial AFC battle. Gordon missed the last three games with an MCL injury.
This season, Allen leads the Chargers in catches (88) and receiving yards (1,074), and is second in touchdown receptions (six). Ekeler's averaged 5.1 yards per carry while accumulating 39 receptions and five touchdowns.
At 11-3, Los Angeles holds the AFC's top wild-card spot despite being tied with division-rival Kansas City for the best record in the conference. The Chargers would take over first place in the AFC West - and the No. 1 seed in the conference - with a victory against the Ravens and a loss by the Chiefs.
