Jets' Darnold on Aaron Rodgers: 'He really is the most talented person'
As his rookie season winds down, New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold can't wait to square off against a player he believes to be among the greatest ever.
"I look at Aaron (Rodgers) all the time, just to watch some of the cool throws he's able to make," Darnold said, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. "He really is the most talented person I've ever seen - the way he's able to get rid of the ball and throw the football. From that aspect, it's fun as a quarterback.
"Knowing how hard the position is, knowing how hard it is to play it, it really is cool to be able to watch someone really make it look so easy."
The Jets and the Green Bay Packers will face each other Sunday, and although both teams are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, playing against a player Darnold reveres may serve as added incentive for the 21-year-old.
"He's a really good player," Darnold said. "How I need to improve is to be a little more decisive and understanding when something is there, being able to take it. Aaron does a really good job of that."
The 4-10 Jets and the 5-8-1 Packers will clash at MetLife Stadium.
