Anderson shines 5 days after signing with Rams
C.J. Anderson had a game to remember in his Los Angeles Rams debut.
Signed just five days prior to the Rams' Week 16 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, Anderson accumulated 167 rushing yards and one touchdown on 20 carries in the divisional tilt.
The veteran running back fell one yard short of his career high, which he set in 2014 with the Denver Broncos.
With Todd Gurley nursing a knee injury, Anderson was signed Tuesday as insurance. He was expected to split work with John Kelly but received twice as many carries as the rookie.
The 27-year-old started the year with the Carolina Panthers after signing a one-year contract in May. Anderson was released in November after failing to eclipse 35 rushing yards in nine games. He signed with the Oakland Raiders on Dec. 5 but was released one week later before landing with the Rams.
Anderson had surpassed 100 yards in a game just once in his last 23 contests coming into Sunday's tilt.
