Bears' Miller defends decision to enter fight: 'That's my quarterback'
Chicago Bears wide receiver Anthony Miller doesn't have any regrets after standing up for his quarterback during Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Miller was tossed from the contest after participating in a brawl in the fourth quarter. 49ers safety Marcell Harris landed a crushing hit on Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky as the latter was sliding, and both teams immediately responded. Miller entered the scrum along with teammate Josh Bellamy and 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman.
"I just saw Mitch's head hit the ground real hard and I knew it was an unnecessary hit," Miller said, according to JJ Stankevitz of NBC Sports Chicago. "Like, nobody had to tell me nothing to go in there, because that's my quarterback."
Miller also said he would do the same thing if Trubisky suffered a similar hit.
"Because (Trubisky) already missed a couple games because of a late hit, so when I see that, that's like dirty football, you know what I'm saying?" Miller said. "And I don't support that."
The Bears captured the NFC North in part due to Trubisky's development during his second year, so it stands to reason why Miller would vehemently defend his quarterback.
