Jets chairman refutes interest in Michigan's Harbaugh
New York Jets chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson has released a statement refuting the team's reported interest in Michigan's Jim Harbaugh.
"Todd Bowles is our head coach. There is no truth to the report of our interest in Jim Harbaugh."
Bowles signed an extension last December that would keep him with the Jets through 2020.
It's been reported the Jets could potentially dismiss Bowles at the end of the year, but Johnson's statement may curtail speculation as the season reaches its conclusion.
The Jets reportedly planned to offer Harbaugh more than he's currently earning at Michigan, and general manager Mike Maccagnan would likely remain with the Jets if the move was made, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.
Bowles has posted a 24-39 record during his tenure with the Jets.
