Eagles grab playoff spot with Week 17 win, Vikings' loss
The Philadelphia Eagles clinched the last NFC playoff spot Sunday after defeating the Washington Redskins and watching the Minnesota Vikings lose to the Chicago Bears.
The defending Super Bowl champions earned the No. 6 seed and will face the Bears on Wild Card Weekend. They defeated the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans, and Redskins over the final three weeks of the season to sneak into the postseason.
They did so behind backup quarterback Nick Foles, who threw for 221 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in Week 17 in the Eagles' 24-0 win. Foles completed 25 straight pass attempts at one point, tying an NFL record.
It was a different story in Minnesota, where Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins tossed for a mere 132 yards with a touchdown against the Bears. The Vikings were a preseason Super Bowl favorite after signing Cousins to a three-year, $84-million contract in free agency.
The Eagles finished the campaign with a 9-7 record, while the Vikings wrapped up the schedule with a mark of 8-7-1.
