Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer doesn't intend to go anywhere following a 2018 campaign in which his team fell short of its postseason aspirations.

"I'm not retiring or resigning. Period," Zimmer texted NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The Vikings' follow-up season to a trip to last year's NFC Championship Game concluded with a 24-10 loss Sunday to the Chicago Bears who had already secured a playoff berth and were without several key starters due to injuries and rest.

Multiple team sources told Pelissero they'd be shocked if Zimmer does not return to the Vikings, who finished the season with an 8-7-1 record.

The 62-year-old is 47-31-1 since taking over as Vikings head coach following the 2013 season when he replaced Leslie Frazier. His contract runs through 2019.

Minnesota fired offensive coordinator John DeFilippo on Dec. 11 and promoted longtime assistant Kevin Stefanski into the role on an interim basis.
