The Atlanta Falcons made sweeping changes to their coaching staff Monday, dismissing offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel, and special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong, according to Matthew Tabeek of the Falcons' official site.

Head coach Dan Quinn will take over as the team's defensive coordinator.

The moves come on the heels of a 7-9 season for the Falcons, who are two seasons removed from a Super Bowl appearance.

Sarkisian was a surprise hiring when he was brought in as offensive coordinator ahead of the 2017 campaign following a one-game coordinator stint at Alabama. He was often criticized for the Falcons' struggles in the red zone.

Manuel's tenure as defensive coordinator also lasted just two years, though he'd been a member of Quinn's staff since 2015.

Armstrong, a veteran special teams coach, had been with the Falcons since 2008.
