Giants GM shuts down OBJ trade rumors, noncommittal on Manning
Despite a tumultuous season in which Odell Beckham Jr. aired out his frustrations with his team's offense and quarterback Eli Manning, New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman is making it clear that his star receiver isn't going to be moved anytime soon, shutting down recent trade rumors.
"We didn't sign him to trade him," Gettleman said Wednesday, according to USA Today's Art Stapleton.
When asked if Beckham would remain with the team in 2019, Gettleman reiterated, "You heard what I said."
As for who will be behind center for New York in 2019, the Giants GM didn't provide a definitive answer on Manning.
"I'm committed to making the best decision in the interest of the Giants. We're in the evaluation process. I know you want answers now," he said.
"We're trying to build sustained success. That takes brutal honesty and some tough decisions," Gettleman added.
New York passed on picking a replacement for Manning in the 2018 NFL Draft, opting to select running back Saquon Barkley with the No. 2 overall pick. The team could look to select a quarterback with the No. 6 pick in the 2019 draft.
