Report: Harbaugh, Ravens progressing toward long-term extension

Tommy Gilligan / USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens and head coach John Harbaugh are inching closer to a long-term contract extension, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who added that both parties are encouraged by the progress.

The two sides have been working on a new contract for weeks, as Harbaugh's current deal expires after the 2019 season.

The 56-year-old led the Ravens to the playoffs this season after a three-year absence, but they were eliminated by the Los Angeles Chargers on Wild Card Weekend. Afterward, Harbaugh - whose contract status has led to recent trade rumors - stated his desire and intention to remain in Baltimore.

Meanwhile, no team is known to have given Baltimore an offer for the coach.

Harbaugh owns a 104-72 record over 11 seasons with the Ravens and hoisted the Lombardi Trophy for winning Super Bowl XLVII
