Travis Scott agreed to perform at SB after NFL made charitable donation
Travis Scott agreed to perform at the Super Bowl LIII halftime show on the condition that the NFL make a donation to a charitable cause.
In a statement to People's Jordan Runtagh, Scott said he made a $500,000 donation in partnership with the NFL to Dream Corps, a non-profit organization that advocates for social justice.
"I back anyone who takes a stand for what they believe in," the rapper said. "I know being an artist that it's in my power to inspire. So before confirming the Super Bowl halftime performance, I made sure to partner with the NFL on this important donation. I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change."
Jay-Z, who has been vocal in his support of Colin Kaepernick, reportedly tried to talk Scott out of performing. A petition was also launched in November encouraging headliners Maroon 5 to drop out of the halftime show in support of the embattled quarterback.
