Cardinals' Peterson won't seek offseason trade: 'I'm here to stay'
Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson won't seek an offseason trade from the Arizona Cardinals despite asking the organization to move him before the 2018 trade deadline.
"I just want to apologize to everybody for asking for that trade in the middle of the season," Peterson told spectators Wednesday while golfing in the Phoenix Open Pro-Am. "I'm here to stay, baby."
Peterson requested a trade in October after he grew frustrated with the Cardinals' struggles. A subsequent meeting with team president Michael Bidwill appeared to calm him, as he recommitted himself to Arizona while rumors about his future in the desert intensified.
Peterson racked up 45 tackles and two interceptions in 2018 while serving as one of the few bright spots for the last-place Cardinals. He's earned Pro Bowl selections in all eight seasons of his career.
The 28-year-old has two years remaining on his contract.
