Report: NFL, players' association could start labor talks this summer
NFL owners and the players' association could begin talks on extending the current collective bargaining agreement within the next six months, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
The current CBA is set to expire in 2021 but there is reportedly a core group on both sides that's optimistic negotiations can start soon.
Owners wish to negotiate new television contracts and get more stadium credits, sources told Mortensen, while the players' main goals are reportedly to preserve or increase their share of revenues and get more concessions on benefits for former players. The 2020 salary cap is projected to be $200 million.
The last work stoppage occurred in 2011 when the owners locked out the players before the two sides came to an agreement on the current 10-year deal.
