Pro Bowl safety Landon Collins cleaned out his locker at the New York Giants' facility, a sign he expects to hit free agency rather than sign an extension or receive the franchise tag, sources told ESPN's Josina Anderson.
Collins later responded to a conflicting report that claimed he hadn't cleared out his locker.
The 25-year-old defensive back was thought to be a candidate for the franchise tag if he and the Giants couldn't hammer out an extension ahead of free agency. He's earned three Pro Bowl selections over the last three seasons.
Collins underwent shoulder surgery for a partially torn labrum in early December and missed the final four games of the 2018 season. He's expected to be healthy by training camp.
