Report: McCoy to remain with Buccaneers in 2019
Longtime Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will be with the team for a 10th straight season in 2019, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
There was some speculation the 30-year-old would be a cut candidate considering his $13-million cap hit for next season. But new Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians and defensive coordinator Todd Bowles believe McCoy is a good fit for their defense, Stroud reports.
McCoy has been with Tampa Bay since the team selected him third overall in the 2010 NFL Draft.
He was named an All-Pro in 2013 and made the Pro Bowl six times, including every season from 2012 to 2017.
McCoy has routinely played through injuries in recent seasons. He suited up for 14 games in 2018, recording 28 tackles and six sacks.
