Report: Cowboys' Irving facing potential suspension

On the day the Dallas Cowboys learned defensive end Randy Gregory has been suspended indefinitely, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Cowboys defensive tackle David Irving is facing a potential suspension of his own.

It would be Irving's third suspension in as many seasons over his four-year career. He served suspensions at the beginning of each of the previous two campaigns for violating the league's drug policy.

The 25-year-old is set to become a free agent in March as the Cowboys are not expected to keep him.

Irving's anticipated departure and Gregory's indefinite ban leave Dallas especially thin on the defensive line. Star defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is currently without a contract for the 2019 season after playing last year on the franchise tag. He is a candidate to be tagged again.
