NFL to consider adding video official to crews
The NFL will consider adding a video official to crews in order to correct egregious errors after teams made seven proposals for changes to the replay system, president of football operations Troy Vincent said Friday, according to Mark Maske of the Washington Post.
League owners would need to approve the addition of a video official when the matter is voted on, likely at the league meetings in March.
The impetus behind the groundswell for change to the replay system is likely the no-call on Los Angeles Rams corner Nickell Robey-Coleman for running into New Orleans Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis before the ball arrived late in the NFC Championship Game.
Multiple discussions have been had in league circles, and on Tuesday, the competition committee failed to find consensus on an appropriate change that would rectify such problems.
