Report: Packers, 49ers interested in trading for Dee Ford
The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers have expressed interest in trading for Kansas City Chiefs sack artist Dee Ford, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Ford received the franchise tag last week. Kansas City is reportedly open to moving the 27-year-old after switching to a 4-3 defensive scheme under new coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
Ford suited up in all 16 games last season, posting 13 sacks and seven forced fumbles. His most memorable play, however, came in the AFC title game when he lined up offside, drawing a penalty and wiping out what would've been a game-sealing interception from Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
In Green Bay, he would bolster a defensive front that finished tied for the eighth-most sacks in the NFL a year ago and one that already boasts ascending pass-rusher Kyler Fackrell.
The Packers came close to acquiring Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders last year but lost the trade war to the Chicago Bears.
The 49ers finished the 2018 season tied for 22nd in sacks. Nearly a third of them were accounted for by DeForest Buckner.
