The Houston Texans offered safety Tyrann Mathieu a long-term deal worth more than $9.5 million annually, sources told Albert Breer of The MMQB.
Mathieu played the 2018 season on a one-year deal with Houston following his release from the Arizona Cardinals. The Texans have made keeping him a priority this offseason. He'd like to stay but will test free agency before making a commitment, according to Breer.
The 26-year-old racked up 89 tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions over 16 games in 2018.
The NFL's legal tampering period opened Monday, allowing other teams to begin contacting Mathieu ahead of free agency.
