Report: Mosley to ink 5-year, $85M megadeal with Jets
Free-agent linebacker C.J. Mosley intends to sign a five-year, $85-million deal with the New York Jets, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The contract carries an annual average value of $17 million with $51 million guaranteed, making Mosley the NFL's highest-paid linebacker. He'll surpass Kwon Alexander, who agreed to a deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Monday that will pay him $13.5 million per year.
Mosley, a former first-round pick, spent his first five NFL seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. The team decided not to use the franchise tag on the talented defender this offseason and was then reportedly outbid by the Jets on the open market.
The 26-year-old now joins Anthony Barr, Jamison Crowder, and Kelechi Osemele as veterans who intend to join a young Jets squad.
Mosley led the Ravens with 105 tackles during the 2018 regular season and added an interception while excelling in run defense.
