Report: Barr backs out of Jets deal to stay with Vikings
One day after telling the New York Jets he would join their defense, free-agent linebacker Anthony Barr will instead remain with the Minnesota Vikings, sources told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Barr is taking less money to re-sign with the Vikings, per MMQB's Albert Breer. The 26-year-old's five-year deal has a base value of $67.5 million, and it could be worth up to $77.5 million with incentives, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
After committing to the Jets, the versatile linebacker told the team he would sleep on his decision. Minnesota then increased its offer, and the defender opted to re-sign with the team that drafted him.
Barr has made four straight Pro Bowl appearances after missing out on the honor during his rookie campaign. He played in 13 games in 2018, recording 55 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble.
