Timeline: Odell Beckham's career with the Giants
Odell Beckham Jr. is no longer a New York Giant.
The three-time Pro Bowler was reportedly acquired by the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday in a stunning move that shook up the league.
The receiver had been one of the brightest stars in New York over the last five years, and certainly left his mark on the Giants franchise. Here's a recap of Beckham's time in the Big Apple:
May 8, 2014 - Giants draft Beckham
The Giants selected Beckham with the 12th overall pick in the 2014 draft. He was the third wide receiver taken, behind Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans.
Oct. 5, 2014 - First NFL start
After being sidelined with a hamstring injury, Beckham made his NFL debut in Week 5 of the regular season against the Atlanta Falcons. He recorded four receptions for 44 yards and one touchdown.
Nov. 23, 2014 - Catch of the Year
In Week 12, the rookie stepped into the spotlight when he jumped backward and hauled in a touchdown reception with one hand through contact. The grab was widely considered the best of the year and set the bar for all future highlight catches.
Dec. 14, 2014 - 143 yards, 3 touchdowns
In just his 10th NFL start, against the Washington Redskins, Beckham became the first rookie in NFL history to record at least 12 catches, 140 yards, and three touchdowns in a game. He would later post another three-touchdown performance the next season against the New Orleans Saints.
Jan. 31, 2015 - Offensive Rookie of the Year
Despite playing just 12 games in his freshman campaign, Beckham was named Offensive Rookie of the Year after hauling in 91 receptions, 1,305 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns, becoming the first Giants player to win the award.
May 13, 2015 - Madden cover
Beckham became the youngest player ever and the third receiver in history to grace the famed Madden cover. And he wasn't affected by the notorious "Madden Curse," as he went on to put up 1,450 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 96 catches during his second season in the league.
Dec. 20, 2015 - Beckham vs. Norman
Cornerback Josh Norman and Beckham engaged in a highly publicized battle during a Week 15 matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Giants. The two were involved in multiple altercations and the receiver was flagged four times on the field. Beckham was subsequently suspended one game for his actions.
Sept. 25, 2016 - Beckham vs. kicking net
The following season, Beckham was involved in another feud - only this time it wasn't with an opposing player. The receiver took his frustration out on a kicking net after Eli Manning threw an interception late in a contest against Washington, which sealed the Giants' 29-27 loss to the Redskins.
It took some time, but the receiver and the kicking net later settled their beef.
Sept. 29, 2017 - Beckham vs. NFL
After the NFL relaxed its touchdown celebration policy, Beckham didn't hold back and soon received a $12,000 fine for his post-TD enactment of a dog urinating. The receiver later hinted that his celebration was in response to President Donald Trump's comments about NFL players.
Oct. 16, 2016 - 222 yards
In Week 6 of his third NFL season, Beckham hauled in eight passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens. The yardage number remains his career high.
Oct. 9, 2017 - Fractured ankle
Beckham's 2017 campaign ended after Week 5, when he fractured his ankle against the Los Angeles Chargers. He underwent surgery soon after and was placed on injured reserve. It was the same ankle he'd injured in the preseason, which also forced him to sit out Week 1.
March 2018 - First trade rumors
After a 3-13 season and a controversial video involving Beckham, Giants co-owner John Mara declared that nobody on the roster was "untouchable." It led to rumors that the receiver could leave New York, while the Rams reportedly made a strong push for Beckham's services.
Aug. 27, 2018 - 5-year extension
Before the 2018 season kicked off, Beckham and the Giants signed a five-year, $95-million extension with a total of $65 million fully guaranteed. The deal silenced rumors about a move to another team.
Oct. 7, 2018 - Questions Eli, Giants' offense
After a 1-3 start to the regular season, Beckham sat down with ESPN - while accompanied by Lil Wayne - and failed to express confidence in Giants quarterback Eli Manning and the team's offense as a whole.
"I don't know," Beckham replied when asked if there was an issue at quarterback. "Can he still throw it, yeah, but it's been pretty safe and it's been, you know ... cool catching shallow (routes) and trying to take it to the house. But I'm, you know, I want to go over the top of somebody."
Jan. 2, 2019 - GM backs Odell
Following another difficult season, which included Beckham's comments about Manning, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman insisted the receiver would be going nowhere.
"We didn't sign him to trade him," Gettleman said in a press conference.
Feb. 13, 2019 - More trade rumors
Beckham's name surfaced in more rumors, while analyst Jay Glazer predicted the star receiver would be moved during the current offseason. But on Feb. 27, Gettleman reiterated that Beckham would not be traded.
March 12, 2019 - Dealt to Cleveland
One of the league's top receivers, still in his prime, was traded to the Browns for a first-round pick, a third-round pick, and young safety Jabrill Peppers.
With that, the next chapter will begin in Cleveland, where Beckham's set to team up with Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, and former LSU teammate Jarvis Landry.
