The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to sign former New Orleans Saints defensive end Alex Okafor to a three-year contract worth up to $24 million, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Kansas City has a major hole on both edges of its defense after releasing Justin Houston and trading Dee Ford to the San Francisco 49ers. Both former Pro Bowlers were deemed poor fits in new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's system.
Okafor posted 8.5 sacks over two seasons with New Orleans. He had a career-high eight sacks as a member of the Arizona Cardinals in 2014.
