Report: Tyreek Hill subject of trade talks prior to battery investigation
Star wide receivers being shipped out has been the defining storyline of the NFL's offseason, and another big name apparently surfaced in trade discussions prior to the start of free agency.
In his mailbag Thursday, in response to a question about the reported investigation into Tyreek Hill's involvement in an alleged domestic battery, The Athletic's Jay Glazer revealed he heard "rumblings" that the Kansas City Chiefs wideout was the subject of trade talk.
"On a separate note, even if none of this happened, there were questions in Kansas City about whether they could re-sign Tyreek Hill," Glazer said. "I heard some rumblings at the start of free agency that his name was being thrown about in trade talks, but at the time thought it had to do with his contract more than anything else. I think this one will take a little while to play out."
It was reported in early March that Kansas City and Hill were discussing a record-setting contract extension. It's unclear how the incident that reportedly left Hill's 3-year-old with a broken arm will affect his future with the Chiefs.
In February, Glazer received significant backlash for saying the New York Giants could trade Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason. His prediction ultimately came to pass, however, as the Giants dealt Beckham to the Cleveland Browns on March 13.
