Meek Mill says he's spoken to Kraft frequently amid scandal

Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill has voiced his support for his friend Robert Kraft after the New England Patriots owner was charged with soliciting prostitution at a Florida spa tied to an international human trafficking ring.

In an interview with Katherine Rosman and Ken Belson of the New York Times, Mill said he's spoken to Kraft "probably 30 times" since the scandal broke in late February.

"They aligned his name with a different set of charges that weren't tied to him at all," Mill said.

Kraft lobbied publicly for Mill in 2018 after he was sentenced to two-to-four years in prison for violating his probation, and recently partnered with him to launch the criminal justice reform organization Reform Alliance.

"I am from the ghettos of America, and he is one of the most powerful billionaires," Mill said of Kraft. "He is more down-to-earth and relatable than I expected him to be."

Kraft has pleaded not guilty to all charges and will reportedly reject a plea deal offered by Florida prosecutors. His arraignment is scheduled for March 28.
