Packers-Bears to open NFL's 100th season, Patriots will host SNF
The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, two teams that share the NFL's oldest rivalry, will open the NFL's 100th season in Chicago on Sept. 5 during Thursday Night Football.
Meanwhile, the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots will host Sunday Night Football in Week 1, although their opponent is yet to be announced. The Pats will also raise their championship banner.
The NFC North matchup is the first season opener not to feature the reigning Super Bowl champion since 2006.
The Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, and Cleveland Browns are reportedly all options to play the Patriots in Week 1, according to John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal.
The NFL typically releases its schedule for the upcoming season in April.
