Mahomes welcomes Josh Allen's throwing challenge
Which NFL quarterback has the biggest arm? We could soon find out.
After responding in February to a challenge by quarterback Josh Allen, reigning league MVP Patrick Mahomes confirmed Wednesday he would meet the Buffalo Bills signal-caller to see who can throw a football further.
"Josh is a great dude, but no one that I've known has been able to throw a ball farther than me," Mahomes said at a New York charity event, according to Alex Brasky of the Batavia Daily News. "I've never seen Josh throw in person but maybe next offseason we can set something up (to see who can throw further). Hopefully, I can get him to come down to Kansas City, and we can do something for charity. It's going to take at least 85 yards to win."
While he may be considered the underdog by some, Allen used his rocket-powered arm to throw downfield more than any other passer in 2018.
However, Mahomes tore apart defenses downfield like few before him in his first season as a starter. He previously claimed to have thrown a football 85 yards (with wind assistance), while Allen tossed 80-yarders with apparent ease at his Pro Day last year.
If the two young pivots can't get together this offseason, a faceoff would be an epic finale to next year's Pro Bowl Skills Showdown.
