McVay: Gurley will be focal point of Rams' offense again

After an explosive season, Todd Gurley's role in the Los Angeles Rams' offense dwindled during the playoffs as the running back dealt with arthritis in his knee.

However, head coach Sean McVay is adamant that Gurley's workload won't be limited to start the 2019 season.

"You can expect Todd to be a focal point of our offense going forward," McVay said on the "Rich Eisen Show" on Friday. "He's in a good place, he's feeling good, and will continue to be a central piece of our offense and I don't see that changing."

The 24-year-old Gurley averaged 58 snaps per game during the regular season but saw his usage drop to 39 per contest in the playoffs as he split duties with C.J. Anderson.

"(Gurley) was obviously banged up at the end of the year," McVay said. "The New Orleans game was just how the game played out ... In the Super Bowl, he made a couple big-time runs ... Our offense didn't produce. That's where I have to do a better job."

Gurley accumulated 1251 rushing yards, 580 receiving yards, and 21 touchdowns last season.
