Cornerback Byron Murphy didn't hear his name called among the 32 selections in Thursday's first round of the NFL draft, but he likely won't have to wait much longer.
The Washington product is the "heavy favorite" to be selected with the first pick of Round 2, No. 33 overall, by the Arizona Cardinals when the draft resumes Friday evening, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.
As one of the draft's premier cornerbacks, Murphy is widely considered a fluid athlete with excellent instincts and ball skills.
The Cardinals have a need at the position, especially in light of persistent rumors that perennial Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson could be nearing the end of his time with the club.
