Eagles sign LB Zach Brown to 1-year deal
The Philadelphia Eagles have signed free-agent linebacker Zach Brown to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday.
Brown, who spent the last two seasons with the Washington Redskins, will earn $3 million under his new deal, his agents told Pro Football Talk.
The 29-year-old defender was a second-round pick of the Tennessee Titans in 2012. Following his rookie contract, he spent one season with the Buffalo Bills before moving to Washington.
Brown was a stout defender for the Redskins last season, excelling in run defense and in coverage. He accumulated 96 tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles.
The veteran's 372 total tackles over the last three seasons are second in the NFL to Bobby Wagner.
Brown will presumably slide in next to Nigel Bradham as the Eagles' middle linebacker, leaving Kamu Grugier-Hill, Paul Worrilow, Nate Gerry, and free-agent addition L.J. Fort to compete for a starting role in base packages.
