Giants' Jones: 'It's my job to make people believe in me'

Daniel Jones understands the pressure that comes with playing for the New York Giants but isn't shying away from setting lofty goals.

During rookie minicamp Friday, the first-year quarterback addressed the incoming criticism after being selected No. 6 overall in last week's draft, and he's ready to prove the doubters wrong.

"It's my job to make people believe in me, and I understand that," Jones said. "So ... there's a lot of work to do, and I'm excited to do it."

Jones was one of the more polarizing prospects in the 2019 class. Several teams reportedly the former Duke passer as the No. 1 quarterback on their draft boards, while others apparently didn't place him in the top five.

Eli Manning is widely expected to begin the 2019 season as the Giants' starting quarterback. Jones understands his own role and is ready to help his team any way he can while learning from his mentor.

"(Manning and I) both want the same things" he said. "We want the Giants to win football games and that's the goal of everyone here. I'm certainly going to let that be known that that's my goal and however that happens, whatever the plan is, I'm here to do that. I understand my role is to learn from him and I'll certainly be focused on improving myself every day."

He added: "The goal is certainly to win Super Bowls, there's no doubt about it. That's the goal, to win multiple Super Bowls like Eli has."
