Eagles' Jenkins uncharacteristically absent from voluntary workouts
Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins has not attended this week's voluntary offseason workouts, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane.
Jenkins' absence is uncharacteristic, per McLane, as the veteran has consistently attended all workouts at the Eagles' facility since signing with the club.
It's currently unclear why the 31-year-old has opted to skip the workouts as both he and his agent declined to be interviewed on the subject.
After spending five seasons with the New Orleans Saints, Jenkins signed with Philadelphia in 2014. He inked a four-year, $35-million contract extension in 2016, and ranks 10th among safeties in terms of average annual value, so his absence could be contract related.
Jenkins is a versatile, vital chess piece to the Eagles' defense, lining up at multiple positions while starring in run defense and in coverage. He amassed 97 tackles, three forced fumbles, and one interception in 2018.
