Metcalf explains shirtless combine meeting with Carroll, Seahawks
The footage has since gone viral.
Then-NFL draft prospect, and physical specimen, D.K. Metcalf opted to walk into his combine meeting with the Seahawks without a shirt on. It prompted Seattle's 67-year-old head coach Pete Carroll to take his own shirt off.
The team shared a video of the hilarious meet-and-greet after Seattle selected Metcalf with a second-round pick in last week's draft.
How did it all go down? Metcalf said it was the idea of a Seahawks scout.
"(Aaron Hineline) was like, 'Here's what I want you to do. I want you to walk in the room with your shirt off. The coach is going to flip out. He loves it,'" Metcalf said, according to Henry McKenna of For The Win. "I was like, 'You sure?' And he was like, 'Yeah, just do it.'"
Carroll immediately began clapping and pounding the table in front of him when Metcalf entered the room.
"When I did, I just saw (Carroll's) face light up and he was just smiling and then he took his shirt off," Metcalf said. "So when I walked in the room, it just showed that type of personality that he has. He's a fun coach just to be around and just to be coached by."
The move paid off, as Seattle would select him 64th overall.
