The Chicago Bears waived kickers Redford Jones and John Baron II at the end of rookie camp on Sunday, trimming the list of contenders to fill the glaring hole on their roster.
Eight kickers were invited to the camp, including four who attended on tryout deals.
Kicker | Roster Status |
---|---|
Chris Blewitt | Signed |
Elliott Fry | Signed |
Redford Jones | Waived |
John Baron | Waived |
Casey Bednarski | Tryout |

Baron was one of only two kickers to convert a 43-yard field-goal attempt at the end of practice Friday in a one-try-only drill. Spencer Evans also made the field goal.
Cody Parkey, the Bears' kicker in 2018, was released earlier in the offseason. Parkey missed a 43-yard field goal at the end of the fourth quarter in Chicago's playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
